Shanghai Tower has been certified LEED® Platinum for Core and Shell by the U.S. Green Building Council. This is the highest achievable level of certification by Leadership for Energy and Environmental Design (LEED), an internationally recognized rating system that honors excellence in the design, construction, and operation of green buildings. Ranked as China’s tallest building, this new certification makes Shanghai Tower one of the greenest supertall buildings on the planet.

Sustainability has been at the core of project from conception through construction. Perhaps the most important sustainable feature is the building’s double skin façade. The continuous glass skin maximizes daylight, reducing the need for artificial lighting. The transparent second skin insulates the building, reducing energy use for heating and cooling. These and many other sustainable components significantly reduce the building’s carbon footprint by an estimated 34,000 metric tons per year.

上海中心大厦设计团队从概念设计到施工都以绿色建筑为核心。大楼最重要的永续设计元素是独特的双层幕墙，包裹塔楼的玻璃幕墙充分利用自然采光，减少照明用电；透明的外墙为建筑减低热传导，减少空调供暖耗电。这些还有其他许多绿色措施大幅降低了项目的各项能源消耗，预计每年能减少34,000吨的碳足迹。

The building’s double skin allows for the development of seven “sky gardens” within the atria, each spanning 12-15 stories. Intended to evoke the traditional courtyards of Shanghai, these spaces are open to the public and versatile enough to host events. Shops, restaurants, and urban amenities satisfy occupants' every need. More than a mixed-use building, the tower is a city within a city. Standing at 632-meters tall, Shanghai Tower completes a distinctive skyline that defines China’s most futuristic city.

双层幕墙内每12-15楼设有“空中花园”。这七个空中花园灵感来自于上海独有的里弄，而且是公共空间，可以供大众使用。花园内未来还会有商店、餐厅等，让大楼内的人们可以忙里偷闲。上海中心不只是超高层综合体，而是个楼中之城。总高度632米的上海中心大厦完成了浦东陆家嘴金融贸易区的天际线，代表着中国未来的无限可能。
